Mileage Club 2017
(Thursdays at lunch time!)
WHAT IS IT: Janet Holland (former PE teacher) created the Mileage Club in 2010 in an effort to encourage exercise and healthy activity after lunch. Students can earn prizes for walking, jogging, or running laps around the lower field on Thursdays at lunch recess! (Skipping, galloping, and hopping count too!) By participating in Mileage Club, students can discover that physical activity can be fun and rewarding. Mileage Club helps develop fitness while building muscles, burning calories, reducing stress and creating healthy, lifelong habits.
If we reach our school goal of 2000 miles, all participants will be invited to a Mileage Club Celebration!
This year our electronic tracking system to count laps is even faster than last year!
HOW DOES IT WORK: Mileage Club depends on volunteers to cheer on students, pass out and punch holes in Mileage Club cards, and hand out tokens and prizes. You can sign up or, weather-permitting, just show up at the lower field on Thursdays at any of the following lunch recess times:
11:00-11:30: Kindergarten lunch recess
11:35-11:55: Grades 1 & 2 lunch recess
12:15-12:35: Grades 4 & 5 lunch recess
12:35-12:55: 3rd grade recess
Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Being a mileage club monitor is a fun and rewarding way to help our students be active during lunch.
PRIZES NEEDED FOR STUDENTS: The Mileage Club is always looking for small prizes for the daily participation drawings. Most of the items we find come from the Oriental Trading Company but they could be almost any fun, non-edible item. If you would like to contribute please leave them in the front office or drop them by Janet Holland's office in the MPR.
If you have questions or would like to help, please ontact Jen Schiller at firstname.lastname@example.org or our P.E.Teacher, Ms. Eva Lankes.
