Arizona Tax Credit
Did you know that every Arizona taxpayer has the opportunity to give $200 or $400 to CFSD instead of paying it in taxes? It's not just a deduction; it's a dollar-for-dollar tax credit that reduces what you owe in state taxes. Tax Credit funds can be used to support extracurricular, fee-based activities and character
education. Whenever possible, we work collaboratively with Community Schools to enable these funds to benefit students who participate in extracurricular, fee-based programs, as well as all students during the regular school day. In past years at Ventana Vista, we have used tax credit funds for the following:
- Maintenance of the walking/jogging track around the lower field ($1800)
- Purchase of laptop computers ($8902)
- Purchase of Lego kits and Lego Robotic team registrations ($1508)
- Partial funding of Community Schools Site Manager salary ($2500)
- Fee reduction scholarships ($256)
- Character education assemblies ($525)
We are also anticipating the use of tax credit funds to purchase some PE equipment and other supplies ($3665) for use during and after school. In addition, we are in the process of investigating the development of a Community Garden with plots for the community and grade levels at the school. One of the greatest costs associated with the garden is fencing. If you, or someone you know, can help us with reducing the cost of this aspect of the garden, please contact the office. Thank you!
How It Works
Just make a donation of any amount to Catalina Foothills School District by the tax filing date. The donation must be earmarked for support of one of our many qualifying extracurricular activities. We'll send you a receipt for your records. Then, when you fill out your Arizona state taxes, you can subtract the amount of your donation, up to $400 (joint filers) and $200 (individuals), from what you owe in taxes.
